Why am I not eligible for laser eye surgery if I have a higher prescription?

It is possible that you expected in advance to be eligible for laser eye surgery with your prescription. Perhaps you have even had a preliminary examination at another eye clinic which showed this. However, it may be that the advice after a preliminary examination at FYEO is to opt for an ExtraLens treatment.

We always want the best result for you. Not only now, but also for the future. With laser eye surgery, we change the shape of the cornea. When a higher strength laser is required, the shape of the cornea is also adjusted more. For now, this might be safe and responsible, but if the cornea needs to be adjusted significantly, it could be that you are not or less suitable for another treatment in the future, such as a lens replacement.

With an ExtraLens treatment we do not change anything in your cornea, so this is still possible.
