Why laser-guided surgery?
During ReplaceLens treatment, the natural eye lens is replaced with an implant lens. This treatment can be performed in two ways: laser-guided or manually.
Laser-controlled surgery
Each implant lens has a different material and strength structure. The laser is so specific that small nuances can be set separately for each implant lens. This ensures that a perfect opening is always made in the lens bag, allowing the implant lens to be placed in this bag in the most optimal way.
In addition, minor cylinder deviations can also be corrected immediately, because the laser can make small changes in the cornea.
An important advantage of this method is that the ophthalmologist needs to work in the eye for a shorter time, and that removing the original lens is less stressful for the eye. Both factors contribute positively to recovery.
In addition, this method has a high degree of reproducibility. You can compare it to drawing a circle: freehand it is never 100% round, but if you use a compass it is exactly round every time and can be repeated every time. Because we perform this method often, we know that this is the best possible way to place the implant lens in the eye.
Waarom niet standaard voor iedereen?
Lasergestuurd opereren is niet bij elk oog mogelijk. Het hoornvlies moet helder en gezond zijn, zonder te veel beschadigingen. De pupil mag niet afwijkend zijn. De oogarts onderzoekt dit tijdens het vooronderzoek.
Ook heeft niet iedereen dezelfde voorkeur. Sommige mensen kiezen voor de extra precisie van de laser. Anderen kiezen voor de handmatige methode; die ook zeer betrouwbaar en veelgebruikt is. Veel ziekenhuizen en klinieken bieden deze geavanceerde techniek (nog) niet aan, maar als vooruitstrevende kliniek in refractiechirurgie doet FYEO dit wel.
