Am I suitable for lens implantation?
If you are not suitable for laser eye surgery, you usually are for lens implants. With lens implants you can quickly get rid of your glasses, contact lenses and cataracts. Only your age can cause some delay. But then it is a matter of time until you have reached the right age for the appropriate lens implants.
Plan your free preliminary examination
Without a preliminary examination, we cannot treat you. We will perform a number of eye measurements and you will have a consultation with an ophthalmologist. This is also the ophthalmologist who will ultimately treat you. After the preliminary examination, you will know which lens implant treatment is best for you. The preliminary examination is free and without obligation.

Which lens implants are right for me?
In the preliminary examination, we determine together which type of lens implant suits you. Are these lens implants that we place in front of your natural eye lenses? Or lens implants with which we replace your natural eye lenses? The choice depends on your age, your eye condition and the daily activities that you perform at home or at work. Read below when you are eligible for replacement lenses or close-up lenses.
Why do I only get replacement lenses from the age of 45?
It's like this. Our eye is a complex organ. It even has an autofocus system that allows you to see sharply at close range. Special muscles make your eye lens more convex for close-up vision. Or flatter for far-away vision. That process is called accommodation.
As you get older, your ability to accommodate decreases. From the age of 45, your eye lens loses its flexibility and becomes stiffer. The muscles can no longer pull your eye lens rounder. It becomes more difficult for you to read up close. It also takes longer to focus if you first look into the distance and then up close (and the other way around). We call that presbyopia. With lens implants, we can replace your natural eye lenses. These artificial lenses allow your eye to focus again. And you can see well up close and far away again.
