The treatment process
You may have been thinking about it for a while: laser eye surgery and finally saying goodbye to your glasses or contact lenses. But how does such a treatment actually work? We will take you step by step.
The orientation phase
Before you make the choice to have your eyes lasered, you naturally want to be well informed. On our website, in our brochure or at our information evenings we give you all the information you need. You can also always call us if you have any questions. This way you get a clear picture of the possibilities and our working method, without having to make a decision right away.
How much does laser eye surgery cost?
arrow_downwardThat depends entirely on the treatment your eyes are suitable for.
Price indication
The costs for laser eye surgery vary from 1050 euros per eye for the cheapest manual Lasek treatment to 1995 euros per eye for the ReLEx SMILE treatment. ExtraLenses may be a better fit for you, which is available from 2695 euros per eye. These are the basic costs for ExtraLenses. Any additional charges for a cylinder deviation or high prescriptions are not included. The treatment price includes the preliminary examination, consultation and check-ups.
Free preliminary examination
Only a preliminary examination, completely free and always without obligation, can show which treatment is possible. You then look together with the doctor which treatment suits you best.
All-inclusive
Good to know that our prices are always all-inclusive. So no nasty surprises afterwards. You know exactly where you stand.

Is laser eye surgery possible when you are pregnant?
arrow_downwardUnfortunately, you cannot undergo laser eye surgery if you are pregnant.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, hormonal activity increases. This can affect your vision. Therefore, we only perform laser treatment 6 months after you have given birth or stopped breastfeeding.
When to get laser eye surgery?
arrow_downwardLaser eye surgery accurately corrects your minus or plus strength. So if you are nearsighted or farsighted, possibly with astigmatism, laser eye surgery may be a suitable treatment.
Which technique is right for you depends on your age, eye health and lifestyle. After the preliminary examination and the consultation with the ophthalmologist, you will receive a treatment advice completely tailored to your needs.
The minimum requirements for laser eye surgery are:
- Between 18 and 50 years old
- Magnitude deviation between -12 and +4.5
- BMI is less than 35
- You are not pregnant and you have not been breastfeeding for at least 6 months

The preliminary examination
Are you interested in having your eyes lasered? Then it is time for the preliminary examination. This examination is always free and without obligation and consists of two appointments.
During your first appointment, our optometrist will perform extensive measurements. This will take about one hour. The second appointment is a consultation with the ophthalmologist who will also perform your laser eye treatment. Here too, your eyes will be examined in detail. This appointment will take about one hour and your eyes will be given eye drops for this. We do this so that your pupil dilates and the doctor can see whether your eyes are healthy on the inside. In addition, you will talk to the doctor about your lifestyle, what you find important and what you expect after the treatment. Please note that after eye drops, your vision will temporarily be blurred and you will not be able to drive yourself after this appointment.
Based on all measurements and your personal situation, you will receive a customized treatment advice. After the preliminary examination, you will know exactly which treatment suits you best and also what the costs are.
How long should I not wear lenses before the preliminary examination?
arrow_downwardThe following rules apply prior to the preliminary investigation:
- Soft contact lenses 1 week out
- Hard contact lenses for at least 4 weeks
- Night lenses for at least 8 weeks
Glasses voucher
To bridge these weeks, you can temporarily wear soft lenses if you have hard contact lenses or night lenses. You may wear your glasses during the last strictly contact-free week. Do you no longer have glasses? Then you can get a glasses voucher for Charlie Temple from us with a value of 50 euros.
Why leave out contact lenses?
Contact lenses can leave an imprint on the cornea. During the preliminary examination, the structure of the eye is measured, the health of the eye is examined and your visual requirements are mapped out. It is very important to be able to measure the natural shape of your cornea exactly during the preliminary examination. Only in this way is it possible to determine the correct calculations for the treatment.
What if my eyes are not suitable for laser eye surgery?
arrow_downwardA perfect alternative to laser eye surgery are ExtraLenses. During the ExtraLens implantation, the ophthalmologist places an advanced artificial lens in front of your natural eye lens.
Contact lens in your eye
The ExtraLens is actually a kind of contact lens in your eye instead of on your eye. Especially suitable for higher minus and plus strengths, extreme deviations, dry eyes or thin corneas. The ultra-thin lens is not visible to others. Once implanted, the lens can remain in place for life. But it can also be removed or replaced without any problems, should you ever want to get rid of your reading glasses. In contrast to laser eye surgery, nothing changes in the anatomy of your eyes.
ReplaceLenses
Another possible treatment could be ReplaceLens. If you are over 45, the ReplaceLens treatment can address farsightedness.

The day of the treatment
On the day of the treatment, you will be guided by our team and helped by the same ophthalmologist you spoke to earlier. This gives a familiar feeling. The treatment itself is carried out carefully and with precision and only takes a few minutes. After the treatment, you will be given medication to take home and an overview of when to use which medication. You will also receive sunglasses that protect your eyes from the bright light.
Is laser eye surgery painful?
arrow_downwardDuring the treatment you will not feel any pain, because your eyes will be numbed with eye drops. The experience of the recovery period can vary from person to person. Pain is different for everyone and difficult to measure.
Each method has a different level of comfort in the recovery period. With surface treatments such as TransPRK and Lasek, the outer layer of the cornea is removed. The first 3 to 5 days your eyes are sensitive or even painful because this has to recover. Many people experience this as unpleasant. Deep treatments such as ReLEx SMILE and IntraLasik are experienced as more comfortable.
What if I blink during a treatment?
arrow_downwardBlinking is not possible. During the treatment you will be given an eyelid spreader. Not a comfortable feeling, but necessary to prevent blinking. In addition, the equipment has eye-tracking, so that your eyes are continuously followed when changing gaze direction.
If there is a very strong squeezing force of the eye, another laser treatment may be recommended.
Can I wear make-up after a treatment?
arrow_downwardAfter eye treatment, you may not wear any facial cream or make-up around your eyes for 2 weeks. With IntraLasik treatment, this may not be until after 4 weeks. The make-up particles can end up in your eyes, which can cause inflammation. Do not rub your eyes hard for the first 4 weeks. Also be careful when removing stubborn eye make-up.
Before the treatment you must stop wearing make-up for 3 days. Of course you do not wear make-up on the day of your treatment. For the preliminary examination you can wear make-up.
What if I rub my eyes after laser eye surgery?
arrow_downwardYou may not rub your eyes for two weeks after laser eye surgery. For hygiene, healing, wrinkling and the bandage lens.
Lasek & TransPRK
With the Lasek and TransPRK treatment you get a bandage lens in your eyes. By accidentally rubbing your eyes you could move it. This lens is removed after 5 days.
IntraLasik Femtosecond & ReLEx SMILE
With the IntraLasik Femtosecond and ReLEx SMILE treatment, there is a small chance of wrinkling when you rub your eyes, especially in the first few days. If this unexpectedly happens to you, you can recognize it by burning, red eyes and blurred vision. Fortunately, it can be fixed.

Immediately after the treatment
Lasek and TransPRK
With the Lasek and TransPRK treatment, you will receive a bandage lens in your eye for protection. This can be compared to a protective contact lens. Accidentally rubbing your eyes can cause this lens to shift. It is removed after about five days.
IntraLasik and ReLEx SMILE
With the IntraLasik and ReLEx SMILE treatment, there is a small chance of wrinkling of the cornea, especially in the first few days, if you rub your eyes. If this happens, you can recognize it by burning, red eyes and blurred vision. Fortunately, this can be remedied.

The recovery
After the treatment, you will return within a few days for the first check-up. After this, a number of check-up appointments will follow, so that we can keep a close eye on your recovery. This structured care process ensures that complications rarely occur. Do you have any questions in the meantime? Our team is always ready to help you and answer your questions.
Can I drive myself after a preliminary examination or treatment?
arrow_downwardPreliminary examination and subsequent consultation with the ophthalmologist
No, you cannot drive yourself. Pupil dilating drops cause your vision to be temporarily reduced and you are more sensitive to light. Therefore, always take a driver with you.
Day of treatment
After the treatment you are not allowed to drive yourself. If you have taken sedatives, you are also not allowed to drive yourself to the clinic. Your reaction time is then reduced for 24 to 72 hours. Always follow the advice of your pharmacist with medication.
After the treatment
In these first days your reaction time is temporarily reduced, the eye can water and your vision is not yet sharp. In general this lasts 2 to 5 days, depending on the type of treatment. During the first follow-up check it is assessed whether your vision is good enough to drive a car. So make sure you have a driver until then.
How long after treatment can I swim or use a tanning bed again?
arrow_downwardThe golden rule is no water in your eyes for up to 2 weeks after your eye treatment. So no swimming. No sauna. Close your eyes in the shower and only wash your hair after 3 days. The reason is to prevent irritation and reduce the chance of infections. That can cause a significant delay in your recovery. If you decide to go swimming after 2 weeks, wear swimming goggles.
Sunbed
Wear sunglasses in bright sunlight for the first six months after laser treatment. It is also wise not to go under the sunbed for the first 6 months to protect your eyes.
