It has always been the ambition of Drs. Barbara Leyssens to do something in surgery. “I find the microscopic aspect of ophthalmology very interesting. Together with the client contact, that is a nice mix. What is a pity, is that I rarely see happy and satisfied clients again. They no longer need me. Which is of course fantastic. That is how it should be.”

Her ambition means that Drs. Leyssens is always looking for new challenges and is not afraid of new techniques. “I want to be able to offer what is available, so that a client always gets the most suitable solution. That is why I perform all types of refractive surgery. All laser and lens treatments.”

Complete growth process

Drs. Leyssens has been working for FYEO since 2011. She has experienced the entire growth process up close. From a small business with one ophthalmologist and a laser device to the leading eye clinic in the Netherlands. Where the latest techniques and technical equipment are used. “I am proud of the good name that FYEO has built up and where we are now.”

Open and quiet

Drs. Leyssens always knows how to empathize with her clients. Especially in stressful situations or with tensions, she remains open and calm. She does not easily get thrown off balance. “I have a listening ear for everyone. In addition, I can express myself well in the language of the client sitting across from me. Sometimes scientifically if they have read up on the subject in detail or empathically with anxious or critical clients.”

Sometimes people don’t always have a realistic view of the treatments. “Then they see the treatment too simply. Or they base their expectations too much on the experiences of friends or acquaintances. What I can do then is communicate honestly and openly that their situation is unique. Just like their treatment will be.”
