Reading glasses correction

Do you notice that your vision up close is becoming increasingly blurry? And do you have more and more difficulty reading well? There is a good chance that you are developing a reading problem. How well you can see up close has everything to do with the distance strength that you have and your natural eye lens. The eye lens ensures that you can zoom in and out. This focusing from up close or far away is called accommodation.

Accommodate

Bulging eye lens
If you want to see something up close, the accommodation muscle pulls the lens of the eye into a curve. This way you can see sharply at a short distance. If the muscle relaxes, your lens remains flat and you can focus well in the distance. If this process works perfectly, you have no refractive error. Everything you see falls precisely on the retina.

Presbyopia
From about the age of 40, your eye lens loses its flexibility and becomes stiffer. The muscles are no longer able to pull your eye lens rounder. It becomes more difficult to read up close, you are presbyopic. Time for reading glasses or reading glasses correction.

Reading glasses correction options

Once you notice that reading glasses are becoming indispensable, you can start thinking about the possibilities of getting rid of them. Not wearing glasses for the rest of your life, that almost sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? With the glasses replacement treatments that we offer, we can give you a life without glasses (or contact lenses).

Preventive treatment - monovision laser eye surgery
Laser eye surgery for reading problems is possible. Although laser eye surgery usually only corrects distance vision. A disadvantage of laser eye surgery is that you still need reading glasses from the age of 40 to 45, because your eye lens ages. Laser eye surgery cannot do anything about that.

Monovision is our special laser treatment to postpone the need for reading glasses. You do not have a learning disability yet, but you will in the coming years. Please note that with Monovision you can postpone reading glasses. To get rid of reading glasses, a Readon ReplaceLens or ReplaceLens treatment is required.

How does Monovision work?

Laser eye surgery can only correct 1 strength. Far or near. Except with Monovision. That is actually a compromise. Both eyes are treated for your distance strength. Your ophthalmologist makes 1 eye perfect for seeing sharply in the distance, and the other eye better for near. With both eyes together you see sharply again.
