What should I do after my lens implant?

We want you to recover well after your lens implant. To do this, you need to do a number of things and leave a number of things undone. What exactly, you can read here and in the brochure that you receive before your treatment. It is important that you get enough rest, attend all check-ups and use your eye medication.

What am I allowed/not allowed to do?

Before your lens implantation, you will receive a brochure. It clearly states what you may and may not do after the operation. It is important that you adhere to the rules of life. This will prevent complications and help you recover faster. Also read the following advice:

  • You may resume normal daily activities, if possible, the day after your treatment. Avoid heavy exertion for the first week.
  • Be careful with contact and ball sports. Our advice is not to practice physical contact or ball sports for 4 weeks.
  • The golden rule is: do not get water in your eyes for up to 2 weeks after your treatment.
  • Touch your eyes as little as possible in the first four weeks after your treatment: do not rub your eyes.
  • You may wear eye make-up again 2 weeks after your treatment.

Follow your medication schedule

After your lens implantation, you will receive a medication schedule. This will state when you should use which medications, antibiotics and/or eye drops. It is important that you follow this schedule exactly. This will prevent complications and help you recover faster. Have you run out of eye drops? Then request a repeat prescription in time.

How quickly do I recover with ExtraLenzen?

If you have had an ExtraLens treatment, you will recover quickly and without pain. The opening in your eye heals by itself. You will see clearly again almost immediately after the treatment. You can usually go back to work the next day.

How quickly do I recover at ReplaceLenzen?

With ReplaceLenses it takes a little longer to recover. Your brain has to get used to the new way of seeing. That usually takes 3 to 6 months. How long this takes for you also depends on how critically you look. During the recovery period you can function normally. Make sure you have good lighting when reading and give your eyes time to get used to it.

How quickly do I recover from Low Vision Lens?

Even with a Low Vision Lens, you recover quickly and without pain. It is important that you train your brain and eyes well to get used to the new vision. That is why you will receive special training for 2 to 3 weeks. You will have to read texts every day at a distance of 15 to 18 cm.

Regular check-ups

After your lens implant treatment, we will closely monitor the recovery of your eyes. We will do this during a number of check-ups. We will plan these together with you at one of our clinics.
