Safety policy

Client safety is inextricably linked to the execution of treatments in our clinic. In order to offer clients safe care, FYEO has written a multi-year policy plan that specifically indicates what is meant by safe care.

The core: ensuring that the trust that the client has in FYEO is also a justified trust. This means that quality and client safety are seen as the most important factors for the continuity of our care. This requires a continuous systematic improvement of the organization. We achieve this by, among other things, the following activities:

  • The management of FYEO ensures that the circumstances to realize client safety are made possible. For this we work with a Quality and Safety team. They coordinate, monitor and manage all parts of the safety and quality system and are the point of contact for all colleagues within FYEO.
  • Meeting the requirements of the quality mark Independent Clinics Netherlands (ZKN). The quality mark is subject to an annual audit (testing) by an independent certifying body.
  • There is an agreement with an external supervising pharmacist, who monitors medication safety, and an external infection prevention expert, who carries out an assessment of our working methods in the field of personal hygiene and infection prevention.
  • As FYEO we know that the client wants to see an expert specialist to gain confidence in our clinic. We try to meet the wishes of the clients as much as possible. Client safety also means that clients are seen and treated by one specialist.
  • The developments and results of the treatments performed are discussed periodically in a medical consultation. Where necessary, the medical policy is adjusted, these changes are recorded.
  • Much attention is paid to securing and transferring relevant knowledge and training. Both doctors and employees must be aware of all relevant developments in the field of ophthalmology. Additional training is also provided in the field of client safety.
  • This also applies to the operation and use of our ophthalmic devices and aids. FYEO uses only high-quality instruments and equipment.
  • There is an internal procedure for reporting incidents and complications. This is communicated openly with the aim of learning from it. The core is; how can we as employees, regardless of our work within FYEO, make a positive contribution to client safety in a safe way.
  • Annually, a Prospective Risk Inventory (PRI) is performed using the risk analysis method. In addition to these planned risk inventories, additional risk analyses will be performed where necessary.
  • Securing safety policy is also one of the clinic's spearheads. Client safety is a standard part of our internal audits.
  • The functioning of the entire business management system is evaluated annually in a Management Review. The system is assessed for efficiency, reliability, availability, transparency and effectiveness.
